Royal Blue!!

Where to start then...

Basically, when I started this project I was really excited, then the holiday's started and it was forgotten about.

But when I did start thinking about the approach I was going to take I was going to use Queen Victoria as my main basis, but as I started research I just lost interest and began to loathe the project, so I took a break from the work.

My basic research was just English monarch's, 

So I started as far back as I could find, which was around the Saxon and Viking era.

And my research continued in that form

Then I thought I'd look at European monarch's and was then going to focus on Queen Isabella II of Spain, but I lost Interest again, and I didn't think I would get it back, i was think that I needed someone That I could do something with, someone who isn't boring. So I decided to use Princess Grace/Grace Kelly, And I haven't lost interest since, My Inspiration's for her come gradually as I read through her biography and watched some of the movies she starred in around the 1950's.

Then I thought it would be wise to look at the type of dresses and corset's worn in the 50's and I'm hooked!

My research since this point has been more about reading her book, so that I have really good knowledge on her and her life in depth.

I have managed to get some blue sample's that I liked and will be experimenting in the future with them and the colour's

I'm glad I started the project when I did and went through the process I have been through to got to the point I am at, otherwise I think I would have been focusing on someone that didn't 'pull me in'. I have to be interested in something for me to work well, and now I am!

What Has To Be Done For Royal Project In Sketchbook's

Following needs to be ready for when you come back

1. Comprehensive research of the subject Royality (European only)
2. Collection of lots of different luxury fabrics - do you research get samples from companies all over the UK. ie not Fancy Silks!!
3. Collection of lots of trims, matt sequins, beads, brocade, ribbons etc (all blue)
4 Research of single colour collections
5. Comprehensive research of collars cuffs and corsets - how were they made? what was the significance of them? which fabrics were used? try to look at the history of them in Royality.
6. Comprehensive research of costume - details, fabrics etc...

You should also decide on which bit of royality you want tho think about basing your garment on - remember the surface pattern has to carry narrative - reference Grayson Perry tapestrys and pots, Hussain Chalayan.

You are making a contemporary garment that is for the catwalk NOT COSTUME!!

You will work on designs a lot when you come back but you are welcome to start now if you like, the research and fabric/trimmings colection is the most important aspect over the holidays. 

That's a lot if you think about it, but I am determined to get this done at my best standard's (well the standard I know of lol)

Think I may be changing the direction of the project I want to go in.

I'm giving myself 2 week's to get my basic research on everything completed so that I have time to improve on thing's if needed and time to add other thing's in I may come across.

Lazy Ain't I

So, I think it's fair to say that I may have neglected my blog for a while back to when I though I wasn't going to last long in college. Yet it's the holiday's and I have been given work to complete for the next project. YAY :|

One Problem, I STILL don't have my brief from when w broke up as DeeDee has it and like now I ain't really sure where to start. LOL!!

And I have alot to do, and I'm the one person that need's the biggest motivation and time i'm guessing because i'm lazy. and I think we have something stupid like 6 week's til we go back and I've got a blank sketchbook, no brief and the small fact that I think I have forgotten how to write. 

So please don't hesitate to feel sorry for me ;) and push me into the right direction of this whole project  until I get my brief. 

9 week's has gone by of this holiday so far, you'd have thought I would have done something.

NO!! I'm lazy ain't I.

One can only pray, I Really Want This...
